More about Elmer & his coffee:

Elmer is a first generation coffee producer from El Diamante, near the city of Jaen. Together with son Elvis and wife Gloria they own and farm around 10 hectare area planted with coffee between 1600 -  1900 masl.

El Diamante is a coffee producing area closest to the city of Jaen, main city in the Cajamarca coffee region. We had the privilege of visiting Elmer and his family at their beautiful farm and found out more about their coffee journey. The land is planted mainly with with Bourbon, Caturra and Catuai varieties but more recently some new, rare varieties like Gesha and Centroamericano have also been added. The whole family work the land together, coordinating their picking, processing and drying and sharing their facilities.

Originally they were producing more commercial grade coffees but this was proving unsustainable due to the prices these could be sold at. So in recent years they have decided to focus on high quality speciality coffees with distinctive flavour profiles by making improvements in harvesting and exploring new processing methods. Over the past three years they have built a relationship with Falcon (their exporting partners in Peru and our importing partner here in the UK) and earned great premiums for their exceptional coffee which allowed to make further investments on the farm and explore processing further. This year one Elmer’s coffees won 3rd place in the Cup of Excellence competition!

Over the past few years we have been purchasing lots from Elvis and this year we’ve had the opportunity to also buy this incredible natural from Elmer and we couldn’t be happier about how it’s tasting! We hope you love it too!

Elmer and the family are practicing organic farming. Compost is used as natural fertiliser and they also keep bees on the farm and produce delicious honey!
